COLUMBIA, SC - July 5, 2010 - Proffitt & Cox, LLP is pleased to announce that Ronald B. Cox has been appointed Chair of the Practice and Procedure Committee of the South Carolina Bar by Bar President Carl Solomon. Cox began his term effective July 1, 2010.

The Practice and Procedure Committee of the South Carolina Bar studies and makes recommendations regarding the rules and law pertaining to practice and procedure. The Committee's continuing mission is to contribute to the improvement of the operation of the judicial system. The Committee addresses issues of practice and procedure in all South Carolina courts including the Circuit Court, the Family Court, and the Magistrate Court.

Ron Cox, a founding partner with Proffitt & Cox, practices law in Columbia. His 14-year practice of law has focused upon civil litigation on behalf of individuals and businesses in personal injury cases, class actions, and commercial disputes. Cox is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina-Aiken where he earned his degree in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Cox has served on the South Carolina Bar's practice and procedure committee since 2000. Cox has also previously served on the Bar's Lawyer-Accountant Relations Committee and the Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee. Cox is also an active member of the Richland County Bar and the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court.
