Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Cases
Our lawyers represented a family that was involved in one of the most devastating trucking accidents in recent South Carolina history. We represented two children who survived the accident but tragically lost both of their parents, three sisters, and their brother in the collision. Our attorneys filed multiple lawsuits in state and federal courts pursuing claims against the trucking company, the manufacturer of a tire on the truck, the manufacturer of the truck, and the state department of transportation. Class Action, Construction, and Business Litigation
Our lawyers represented residents of a rural community in South Carolina in a class action lawsuit against the owners of a plant for claims related to emissions from the plant. Our attorneys obtained court certification of a class action suit. As class counsel, our attorneys obtained a multimillion dollar settlement for the class members and injunctive relief from the court requiring changes in the design and operations of the plant to help prevent future problems.
Our lawyers represented a provider of answering services in an unfair competition claim brought by a competitor. Our lawyers were successful in getting all claims against our client dismissed.
Our attorneys represented a manufacturer of roofing materials in a construction case in which various defects were alleged in the construction of a laboratory at the University of Georgia. Our client was able to settle the matter through mediation in a manner which preserved important business relationships with other parties to the case.
Our attorneys represented a surety in a claim involving numerous alleged defects in the construction of a high rise condominium on the coast. After settling the owner's claims against our client, we pursued an indemnity claim against a major subcontractor which was successfully resolved through mediation.
Our lawyers represented a hospital system in a class action lawsuit alleging hospitals had failed to give required discounts to certain insured and uninsured patients. The hospital system, along with other hospital defendants involved in the case, succeeded in reversing an unfavorable ruling of the trial court when the South Carolina Supreme Court issued a decision finding that the statute relied on by plaintiffs was not applicable in the case.
Our lawyers represented a national lender in a lawsuit alleging the lender had wrongfully foreclosed on a home mortgage. The case was favorably resolved at mediation.
Our lawyers represented a national lender in a lawsuit seeking to foreclose on a judgment lien that the real estate closing attorney failed to realize had been publicly recorded against the property before the lender's mortgage. Our lawyers worked to protect the lender's interest through settlement of the case and an agreement restoring the lender's mortgage to first priority.
