Little River Man Charged With DUI in Longs Car Accident

car accident crashA 20-year-old Little River man has been charged with a felony DUI in a Longs car accident that killed a 27-year-old woman on January 12. The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported that Austin Cedar was driving eastbound on Highway 90 around 6:15 a.m. when he crossed into the westbound lane and hit a Chevy Cruze head-on, killing the 27-year-old driver.

Cedar was arrested on January 15 in connection with the crash and was charged with felony driving under the influence, death results. Cedar suffered injuries in the accident and was arrested after being released from the hospital. At the time of this report, he is being held on a $50,000 bond.

According to Carolina Live, Cedar had a history of traffic charges, including charges for driving on the wrong side of the road, unlawful operation of an unsafe or improperly equipped vehicle and possession charges from July 2011. In October 2011, Cedar was charged with careless operation of a vehicle and reckless driving.

The accident is still under investigation by the SCHP.
